The CalSTRS Enterprise Strategy Management Division is seeking a motivated individual to work as a Research Data Analyst II and is willing to consider a Research Data Analyst I on the Continuous Improvement Team.
The Enterprise Strategy Management Division drives strategic planning, organizational performance, enterprise sustainability, continuous improvement, research, and innovation at CalSTRS. The business areas in the division work together to increase CalSTRS’ ability to integrate business intelligence into organizational planning and performance. The work of the division informs the Teachers’ Retirement Board and the CalSTRS executive staff to arrive at sound decisions in pursuit of CalSTRS’ strategic goals.
The Continuous Improvement Team is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and executing all activities related to the development, maintenance, implementation and executions of business process improvement and business process reengineering. CIT works to foster organizational awareness; bridge cross-functional process improvement; improve efficiency and effectiveness in work processes; support risk analysis and risk mitigation; and formalize and document processes.

Under general supervision of the Research Data Manager, the Research Data Analyst II is responsible for identifying complex operational improvement opportunities using a variety of established methodologies. The incumbent is responsible for business process analysis and implementation, and independently performing extensive research, analytical, and advisory duties related to Business Process Improvement (BPI) and Business Process Reengineering (BPR) activities for CalSTRS in addition to supporting the innovation program, as needed.

Telework Information: We offer a hybrid approach including in-office and remote work solutions with staff working on-site at our Headquarters in West Sacramento 2-3 days per week.
Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.
Duties will be adjusted at the Research Data Analyst I level.

Working Conditions
All staff of CalSTRS are employees of the State of California and subject to California employment taxes and withholdings. Upon appointment, staff are required to provide a current California address to CalSTRS Human Resources to be used as a remote work location.

Desirable Qualifications

Incumbents must possess 12 semester or 18 quarter units course work in any combination of a data driven research-related field , such as economics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, demography, geography, anthropology, statistics, data science or a research-related field. This must include at least one course in statistical methods; and
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree. Work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis by applicants who have the required units mentioned above.
