Job Title: Livestock Nutritionist
Reports To: President/CEO
Location: Stillwater, OK
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm
Starting Rate of Pay : $38,000 - $60,000 Annually based on education and experience
FLSA Status: Exempt
Effective Date: June 2024
SUMMARY This individual will work with customers to assess the nutritional needs of their livestock and formulate diets that will improve herd health and overall profitability of the farm. Assist in the daily operation of a corporate office. Opportunity exists to advance to position in top management team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following:
- Answering questions of customers and formulating diets and rations to maximize growth, reproduction, health and performance of their livestock herds.
- Must competently provide accurate feeding and management recommendations as well as possess product knowledge and industry information to carry on a knowledgeable conversation with potential and current customers.
- Develop an understanding of our formulation program and pricing structure and developing an educational program to pass this along to store personnel and salesmen.
- Learning and monitoring A&M feed formulations and ingredients regularly to make sure they meet quality, performance and animal health standards. This will include making recommendations on which ingredients should be used in A&M feeds, reviewing livestock needs and ingredient costs.
- Maintain expertise in nutritional trends and keep up to date with regulatory changes.
- Evaluate needs for new A&M feeds.
- Prepare price sheets by determining ingredient costs, put new prices in price sheet program, print price sheets and distribute to stores and dealers.
- Purchasing micro ingredients and grain.
- Making daily market report.
- Preparing monthly feed plant inventory.
- Monitoring FDA compliance and audits.
- Helping with grain harvest and grain settlements.
- Backing-up in scale room and on phones.
- Attending training and meetings as directed by management.
- Regular and sustained attendance.
- The employee must perform all other duties as directed by management.

- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in agriculture with coursework in livestock nutrition; or two plus years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Current and Valid Driver’s License Preferred. Required for the use of company vehicles.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to communicate effectively using both verbal and written communication to management and co-workers. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and e-mails. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, discounts, proportions and percent and interpret graphs if necessary.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
COMPUTER SKILLS Computer skills and experience are required, with emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite software. A beginning speed of 30 to 35 words per minute would be a minimum. The employee will be required to send e-mails and fill out various spreadsheets and reports. Experience with a 10-key calculator is preferred. This position requires working with numbers daily.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as associated with offices. Due to the nature of the manufacturing operation, the employee is exposed to a certain amount of grain dust while on the job. If a person is highly allergic to dust and grain, this may not be a suitable work environment.
