Department Overview
Privacy Compliance Consultant – will serve as a key member of the Global Data Protection - Enterprise team at Motorola Solutions, Inc. ("MSI") and will drive continuous maturation of the privacy program. This role will serve as a project and risk manager for the privacy program and provide data protection compliance and accountability to stakeholders across the organization globally. In addition, will provide support to the enterprise functions within the organization e.g. Procurement, Marketing, HR, Enterprise Information Security, Sales, legal, Global Data Protection – Products, Audit, Government Affairs and other compliance operations etc. as needed. Can work autonomously. Determines objectives of on-going assignments. Regularly briefs manager on work and escalates complex matters or decisions that may pose legal, financial and/or reputational. While the this role will report to the Sr. Director, Data Protection – Enterprise, he/she will also work closely and collaboratively across various organizations within the company globally.
Job Description
Overview:
Privacy Compliance Consultant is an operational and compliance role. The Consultant will assess privacy risk using privacy technology solutions as well as make recommendations to enhance overall privacy capabilities through policy, processes, technology, and training. The Consultant will identify gaps and risks in the current environment and recommend best practices or solutions to reduce risk. Some knowledge of privacy data security issues desired. Provide support to the Data Protection officer Global Data Protection Office and cross-functional teams on data privacy matters.
Responsibilities:
- Drive efforts of the Data Protection Office to ensure an evergreen data asset inventory, including data flows and data mapping;
- Conduct data privacy risk assessments, gap assessments for business operations throughout all regions and coordinate with information security staff as required.
- Provide support to manage privacy and security issues arising within one or more regions and directing efforts of local operations as necessary to resolve compliance concerns and/or implement corrective actions.
- Assist with maintaining and monitoring the MSI Binding Privacy Rules. Assists in monitoring compliance with other privacy and security policies and standards across the organization globally.
- Develop a process for the consistent use of enterprise privacy assessments where necessitated by business process changes.
- Assist in fostering a culture of data protection within the organization, through training and awareness and implementing essential elements of privacy by design and default.
- Support the Privacy and Data Security Committee programs and activities as needed. Conduct / participate in internal and external audits.
- Work with information security and other cross-functional teams to prioritize and understand data security initiatives and to ensure privacy compliance. Maintain records of the company’s data privacy and cybersecurity compliance efforts.
- Provide management reports of enterprise privacy program.
- Support the development, deployment and maintenance of incident response procedures and the privacy runbook. Support data protection office in documenting data privacy and incidents;
- Participate and assist with planning for enterprise risk management projects and meetings as needed.
- Support DPO with internal and external queries as necessary in relation to data protection investigations and practices, individual privacy rights globally.
- May be required to manage/ supervise third party service providers
- Maintain knowledge of global data privacy laws, frameworks e.g. HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, CPA, PDPA, LGPD, VCDPA NIST etc. Interface with legal counsel, business and functional teams, service providers, and other practice groups. Interface with external counsel, as appropriate. Maintaining relationships with key internal stakeholders (e.g. Interface with Global Data Protection Office – Products, Legal, information Security, IT, Products, Services, Procurement, HR and Sales and Marketing etc).
Background/Knowledge/Skills:
- Excellent analytical, Interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience applying knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve success
- Excellent negotiation, problem solving, consultation, and analytical skills
- Well organized, detail oriented and adept in a fast paced environment.
- Experience with policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to identify potential compliance issues. Ability to approach issues with a sense of pragmatism and flexibility
- Required to work in the highest level of ethics and discretion
Highly Preferred Qualifications:
- Paralegal certificate a plus
- CIPP certifications or willing to work towards a professional certification the IAPP (CIPP/ US, CIPP/E, CIPT strongly preferred)
- Experience providing practical guidance to enterprise clients
- Project management certification and / or experience strongly preferred
- Experience with privacy management platforms e.g. Trustarc, OneTrust, Radar etc.
- Privacy and information security compliance experience preferred
- Excellent critical thinking and creative problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to senior management level management
- Experience with Google Suite and creating presentations.
- A desire to engage deeply with complex data use and global privacy issues
NOTE: Candidate may reside anywhere in the US, but preferred candidate will reside in the Chicagoland area

Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience particularly in the data protection and project management field
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
